So mummy decided to update her name. Okay, maybe more like adding a english name and rearranging the sequence of name, and to add in my marriage name. :)
What to do after changing name?
Changing name is an easy procedure. The first step was to visit the lawyer's to get a deed poll done. Then go to ICA to replace my NRIC. I suggest doing it together with your re-registration of NRIC at 30yrs so it's cheaper ($10). Passport also has to be replaced to reflect new name ($70-$80). The new name will be automatically updated for agencies participating in ICA's OSCAR programme (I.e. HDB, CPF, IRAS will be updated accordingly.)
Then next will to be replacing your driving license ($25) personally at Traffic Police Department. Go early to avoid long wait... and have to park at nearby public carparks.
Followed by all my banks. Almost no queueing needed because updating of particulars can be done over the customer service counters instead of tellers (yay!). I brought along my deed poll but all they needed was just the updated NRIC and signing of their update request form.
That's about all! :) Now I can embrace life with my new name. Keep rocking.
